SkyPower appoints Sterling and Wilson for its India solar projects

Utility scale solar energy developer SkyPower Ltd., which was awarded 350 megawatt (MW) of solar projects in Telangana and Madhya Pradesh, has contracted Sterling and Wilson Pvt. Ltd. for engineering procurement and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance (O&M) of its current projects in India.

Sterling and Wilson will construct seven 50MW solar projects for SkyPower, according to agreements signed on Thursday. Toronto-based SkyPower won four projects in Telangana (totaling 200MW) and three projects in Madhya Pradesh (150MW) last year.

Construction of the projects will commence during the third or fourth quarter of the current financial year.

“The signing of these EPC and O&M agreements with Sterling and Wilson is an important milestone toward the timely execution of our awarded projects and fulfilment of our commitment to generating a brighter future for India through developing clean solar power,” Kerry E. Adler, president and chief executive of SkyPower said in a statement.

SkyPower has engaged renewable energy-focused investment bank Greenstone Energy Advisors Pvt. Ltd to identify local partners to provide expertise for its India projects, The Economic Times reported on 21 April, quoting chief executive Adler.
