Energy Efficiency Tips
What is energy efficiency? or what is Energy Efficiency Tips? Is it the same as energy saving ? The answer is not quite so! Energy efficiency is using less amount of energy to get the same desired output. For example, turning of lights is energy saving but using a fluorescent lamp instead of an incandescent lamp is energy efficiency!
Here are some things you can do to use energy more efficiently(Energy Efficiency Tips) :
Household Purposes:
-
Iron your washed clothes before they completely dry, this will allow your ironing to be done quickly while using a lesser amount of energy.
-
Bring items taken out of refrigerators (like vegetable, milk etc.) to room temperature before placing on the gas stove for heating.
-
Keep an eye out for a blue flame, which means your gas stove is operating efficiently.
-
When possible, cook in a microwave oven which uses 50% less energy than conventional electric or gas stoves.
-
While cooking, use lids to cover cooking pans.
-
Make the most of daylight by using light coloured curtains to allow light to come into the room.
-
Use Compact fluorescent bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs as they are four times more energy efficient and provide the same lighting.
-
You can replace conventional regulators with electronic regulators for ceiling fans.
-
You can install exhaust fans at a higher elevation than ceiling fans.
Industrial Purposes:
-
Control lighting with clock timers, delay timers, photocells, and/or occupancy sensors.
-
Use smooth, well-rounded air inlet cones for fan air intakes.
-
For motors- provide proper ventilation, check for under-voltage and over-voltage conditions, balance the three phase power supply, avoid repeated rewinding.
-
Provide temperature controllers for furnaces.
-
Use bolier blowdown to help warm up the back-up boiler.
-
The compressor of the central air conditioner should be located in a cool, shaded place outside.
